Black Princess of the night chin strapped to her violin
she plays the notes from her memorable heart of blue
while the moon in her sorrow spills light upon the Quin,
she plays on, a Stradivarius interlude of thin soulful Adieu;
Arrivederci (goodbye)
Donna (woman)
Ingannato (deceived)
even the stars weep under her spell as her raven changelings
scatter like black ashes to the wind
Five seasons of partings five degrees of loss, still no light
bursts forth from a soot sky of ebon black
lamentations and moans
heaven groans
from the weight of her sorrow comes the eye of the storm
as she plays her last note of deep unrest .
Such a beautiful, yet sad poem. It is like a part of one's own soul departing, no longer needed or wanted, an old way of being gone past. There is loss, but hope, too. So much you say yet leave unsaid, which is its beauty. All the reader is left with is how they feel!
Poetry paints in words and images what music paints in notes of melody and harmony. Lovely. PS: Contrary to what Ron says below, I incorporate music into my day in subtle ways. I almost always have some kind of music in the background while I am writing my poems, not active listening, but absorbing the mood and mystique of the music that brings its own unique effect. The music you posted is most telling.
In this atmospheric poem I find the mysterious dark spell of
atmosphere you have spun is equal in effect to the actual words
themselves…
I find the whole effect absolutely intriguing…!
You made me intrigued by this "black princess" that you wrote this ode to. But when I opened the link you provided, there was no image of her at all, only mood music for those who feel the need for taking time out to listen to such music for a time. I much prefer southwestern Native American flute music to this violin background music, but I have never felt the need to be so wound up that I have to take time out for my day to just relax and listen to music.
First, I don't have the time when I fill every minute with activity. And second, I find that if I am sufficiently tired, but not keyed up, that I go to sleep easily and have that to refresh me until the dawn when I can face another day without being held up by too much tension and having to take time out in order to relieve it.
A pirate/mermaid love story fantasy set in the 17th - 18th centuries the Golden Age of pirates. A thrilling adventure that creatures a new and unique mythology - Book 1 of the Gemstone Series.
The People's Treasure is the fourth installment in The Jade Owl Legacy Series. The Final leg of Professor Gray's quest comes on the horizon as he challenges the full weight of the Chinese government and battles within the Dragon's Pool.
