Dad would have appreciated this ability I have for the write, he had it too, but more for deeper and darker subjects...

Poem Artwork

Oh my God, I am Turning into My Father…

Oh well, its time to die,

My dad I am turning into, oh my,

Certain phrases remembered,

Certain statements recalled,

Sometimes I even do bawl,

At his memory, he did make that call…

I talk to people on the street,

Smiling at them, giving them a treat,

I make older folks feel better, I think,

I am willing to help others, even fixing their sink…

This he did, and then some more,

All his life, he did this and I swore,

If I ever start to act like him,

It will be time to die, to my own life, take…

But now that it has started, I feel so honored,

That a bit of my dad, whom I miss so greatly,

Was good enough to leave imprinted on me,

A part of him, his love of humor, although darker,

His love of the write, again a bit blacker,

But still without his part of me, I would not be here,

To say how much he is missed and loved,

He is still here in a way, as I am turning into him,

Is that such a bad thing, NO WAY!

Wonderful heart touching write. You know what's really scary? I have caught myself saying things my grandfather use to say!
