Fantasy or nightmare,
Vision of future, past or present,
May I have fries with my pheasant...?

Poem Artwork

Rising from the Depths…

On a Sunday afternoons cruise,

I did fall asleep and take a snooze,

I dreamt of a hooker, she was quite a floozie,

When I awoke from my little snoozie,

There in the distance stood a little island,

Rising out of the depths of a superheated sea,

My fiberglass boat was melting all around me,

I tried to get out of there by turning my key,

But my motors did fall out and sink, don’t you see…

The sea around me,

Was boiling and roiling,

I tried to escape in my raft,

But therein as well I was toiling,

My paddle did burn my hand,

On the bottom of the raft I could not stand,

The sea was of my plans to escape, foiling,

What was I to do; the sea of my raft was spoiling…

The little island that did rise,

Right there it did before my closed eyes,

It felt as if the ocean did order up some fries,

I was so close was I to my preemptive demise,

I could feel the heat of hell on earth,

So loud were my cries,

That Rufuz did awaken me from a dream,

And to my surprise,

I found I was just exhibiting a fearful scream,

There, yes on my boat on that wonderful Sunday’s cruise,

I found I had fallen asleep and was amidst a nightmare,

That brought on to me quite a hellacious scare…

Scary, indeed - and I hope it's not prophetic. There are many volcanoes under the ocean - just itching to blow - which would turn that sea into that melting inferno - with nowhere to run.

That is some nightmare, Ed, I am glad it wasn't mine. I never have bad dreams when I am sleeping on a boat at sea...it just comforts me like a mother rocking her infant.
Take care,
Shery

Well, I was certainly scared reading this poem. But, hooray for Rufuz, ever a man's best friend. Henry
