A Recipe for the Making of a Poet…

A pinch of rhyme,

A twist of meter,

A little to the taste of time,

A small amount of salt,

If the poet is to be salty,

Mixed all together with an egg in a beater…

This recipe can be changed to the taste,

Once in awhile I find like a roast one should also baste,

Also if one is to write for children its imperative to add paste,

All these ingredients can sometimes go, unfortunately, to the waist…

Herbs and condiments can be used as well,

Mustard seed to make the poet spicier,

Hot sauce to bring out the blazing tongue,

Not to forget garlic to keep one feeling young…

Gotta add some milk for the poet to remain wholesome,

Also some bread of the variety crumb,

Helping to absorb any waywardness on the part of the poet,

All this and you can add your own,

Then cook to taste in the oven in your home,

Not too hot and not too cool,

We wouldn’t want our poet to develop into a fool…
