For Whom the Bell is Sold…

Sold it was, right from under me,

Told it was to be used for good,

Bold would it be, heard from mountains on high,

Gold it was, solid, not in layers…

For a paltry sum,

It was imparted to a man that was quite dumb,

He did purchase it while drinking rum,

Said he could live in it, he was just a drunken bum…?

Those that sold it did so without authority,

He did feel to sell to this man was right,

As he was a 100 proof Absolute minority,

Personally I would have wished he sold it to a sorority…

The bell no longer does toll,

The striker removed to make it easier to roll,

This drunk will live in it like a mole,

Hope he does not into it drill a hole…

Ed, real funny and real clever. And yes, stuff does get sold this way, right out from under people. Henry
