No kids have I,

For this I thank the gods in the sky,

Instead I got this hairy old mutt,

On walks his stuff he struts…

Talks to me when I get home,

Asks, when will I his hair comb,

Fortunately for me, from his mouth no foam,

Has a great amount of smarts under his hairy dome…

His poetry better than mine?

Here comes the part where I do whine,

He seems to treat me well,

Never does he of me malign,

Guess I will hang around awhile,

And not, as his dad, ever resign…J

Ahh, point: counterpoint. He won't let you resign. You know the animals own you.

Like any kid, as soon as I showed our loveably stupid spaniel a comb, it shot out of the house like a rat out of an aquaduct - and that was with the doors shut!
I miss a dog, Ed, such loyal creatures. But heh, I was my dad's pet, he couldn't afford a dog. Neither could a farmer that I worked for when I was about 15 or 16. He used to send me running after stray cows, but here's the funny part, he whistled instructions to me as if I were a collie dog! So in a sense, I have been a dog as well as owning a dog. Pure pure empathy!

Well ... in this instance it takes two great minds and two hearts to produce such a loving tribute.

Somehow I think Rufus wrote this one ... I think its that coy look and pose he's got.

A lotta love in this write bubba ...
