This is under humor though there is little to no humor in gas prices today...

Poem Artwork

I remember when gas was fifty cents,

That’s right, a gallon then made sense,

People would ask for a couple dollars worth,

Now to buy gas they take your first birth…J

Hesitant I am to go back to work,

As a courier driving, as I cannot stand to be a clerk,

Still gonna try though it will cost a bundle,

Gotta do something before I go totally berserk…J

If I empty my tank, a hundred dollars will it take to fill,

How many times can I handle that type of bill,

Oh well, gotta get up and out and find me a job,

Even though the gas companies will of me rob…J

My my, I share your memory. I passed my driving test in Feb 1972. Petrol then was around 50 cents in the UK as well. Filling up involved a cost that did not matter in the larger scheme of budgeting - the price of an LP and a pint of beer, not to mention the cost of entertaining a girl for the night - and still have change. Now, at 10 dollars a gallon here in the UK, the cost has taken centre stage alongside other commitments - excluding the long gone pleasure of buying an LP and beer - my girl became my wife. It's a pity that we're so dependant on the Middle East for oil when the North Sea, for example, has oil reserves to exploit. Ah well, better go and pump up the bike tyres.
But first of all, mouse scouts! Bring out the bottle!

Dai

Ed,

Travelling 50 miles to work each day and the way price of gas is it still don't seenm to slow down these SUV's and Big Rigs, and wouldn't it make sense to schedule all highway repairs and roadwork for nights instead of rush hours. More fuel is burnt in traffic and drive thru windows each year than actually driving back and forth to work. Good Luck, Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

Lil'brother, if you really want to be pissed off by the price of gas, take a lil'tour around here and pay 9.48 U$S per US gallon and then...you can start complaining.
Now, be a good brother and send me some gas for Xmas, after all you get it more more cheaper.

Yes! gas is gold. Remember this when you go to vote. That's the only way we can fight back. These prices are killing our economy and it sure wouldn'
t be this way if it wasn't an election year. Tell em al at the polls to kiss your butt!

Blessings and love,
Susan

OWTCH! Already have a pain in the neck, don't need a pain in the pump, too! And food costs and utility prices and EVERYTHING'S going up, except the paycheck - worth less now, with inflation. I'm going back to bed - at least, that's free. I think. :(

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I can remember when it was 32 cents a gallon in the 70's
When I was born it was probably 5 cents a gal.

Ed, to compound the price of crude oil is up to $115. per barrel, how crude is that. For long trips, I take public transportation, for local stuff, I choose when and where I will go. We are in the midst of a real mess and I don't think the politicians care or understand. Off I go for more meds....

Cheers,
Dan

Become a bicycle courier, instead, Bro! You definitely need the exercise, and pedaling is absoultely free, and with all that gas money you'll save, you can get a gift, for your Brother Pee Wee!
(No Charge for this fine advice, by the way.)
