Calm Before the Attack...

Poem Artwork

We stood on beach,

From man quite out of reach,

Too near the ocean for man to intrude,

Disturbing our pleasure was that damn dog being rude…

From the ocean side he did make his attack,

All my brethren did escape with feathers intact,

But the mood was quite altogether ruined,

Boy, would I like to put that dog in a sack…

Our quiet beach day ruined,

We flew away to find a meal,

I’m still pissed about that dog,

Our solitude he did ultimately steal…

Rufus the riot. Ever notice that a dog never catches a bird unless it's already wounded or near death?

You know, you have written about something that has irritated me for so long. Every summer, we spend our Sundays at the lake, and it seems nine times out of ten, the scene you just posted, or at least something similar, happens. Good write, Ed, told in your humorous style!

i hate the rudeness of pet owners who do not do their pets the favor of teaching them manners or keeping them on a leach--its the owners who need to be put in a bag!!

I think you should have just sent Rufus over to have a gentle persuasion talk with his Snauzer Cold 45 and a doggie leather jacket he could have made the no good doggie an offer he couldn'r refuse.

Sometimes a lover becomes a hater when our peace are destroyed by some creature that didn't take a moment to think before making a mess of everything, like barking up the wrong tree, on a beach??????

I cycle a lot and I have had my space "violated" on numerous occasions by unruly canines. I know that of which you write, Ed. Love and peace to you and to Rufuz,

Regis
