Almost a hundred...

Poem Artwork

Met a gentleman today,

Born on August third,

The same as me, the same day,

But the date you wouldn’t believe, no way…

1911 was his year of birth,

He still worked 5 days a week,

And swam in a pool those same days,

This man was also, although almost a hundred,

Full of vigor & even more so full of mirth…

I couldn’t believe he still drove a car,

When young, to grow old, he did wish on a star,

Well damned if he didn’t get his wish,

Then he got to meet me,

Ain’t that just a barrel of laughs or is it a fine kettle of fish…

I'm not sure? It's certainly not a bowl of cherries. If you get to be half his age that will be an accomplishment. Funny guys don't finish last. Check out George Burns and one Bob Hope.

Well, when my grandmother died she was 96 and drove a motorcycle with the side care(the side car was for groceries and me). Sure hope I will grow up to be just like her.

Be always safe,
Karen

It's a fine kettle of fish, but I want mine marinated in Louisiana hot sauce, breaded in cornmeal and fried up crisp.

Not many around like that old guy. More power to him. Hell, I though I was doing good at seventy-two. I'm just a whipper-snapper to that old gent.
