I can’t believe how fast is the passage of time…

...this birthday has affected me more than any other...

Poem Artwork

I once was twenty; I was invincible,
Then I turned thirty; still never knew of death,
Then came forty; somewhere in that ten years I lost dad,
Then on its heels came 50; oh my God, a half century passed,
Now I am about to turn 60; at around 55 my bubble burst.
From then on my life seemed turned towards the worst…

I thought I’d be dead by or even before thirty,
A lot of those drugs I used seemed to be pretty dirty,
With death several times I seemed to have become quite flirty,
How long now will I last,
Will I go when the time comes fast,
Or will I at that time just linger or find myself aghast…

I’m gonna be 60, yes, SIXTY,
Will I see 70 or even 80,
No other birthday affected me like this one does,
I think for this one I will have to find me a buzz…(what else is new...?)

You are right on the money with your assessment of the decades in one's life. I figure that a person is at a crossroads at about 40. You are going to continue to be a reprobate mired in your old habits or a sterling example of humanity, such as me. When I think of all of the times that I have nearly checked out, mostly from my own stupidity, it makes me want to experience reverse peristalsis of the esophagus!

Try smoking an ear of corn like the lady in the picture.
Or is that the NY Times?

Get a Grip, Bro - Haven't you heard that 60 is the new 40??!!

PS: I'm older than you, and I'm still crawling around under rotting floors in dilapidated old houses, rescuing puppies.

And don't tell anyone, but I'm still running around the forest naked, howling at the moon with my pack of loyal dogs!!

PS: Happy, Happy Birthday in a few days, You Old Fart!

Ask no questions, just enjoy your life to the fullest from now on. Love those whom you want to love, enjoy true friendship from good friends, do everything that you love to do, rejoice at every moment (no matter how small or large it is) that makes you happy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! BEST WISHES AND MANY HAPPINESS!!!!!

Sandie
