When age is on the stage.....

Poem Artwork

For The Dance

You dance in life
I shuffle in time
easy and slow like

Your outlook bright
My days dimming
in repeated musts

Young health yours
I hang in there
cheering a sunrise

In your time a future
I treasure memories
welcome older faces

We are for the dance
lovingly keeping time
and always in step

Very moving; I like the juxtaposition between young and old. I am particularly taken with your second stanza: "days dimming in repeated musts" rings with much truth. When perceived "necessities" rule our hours, the days - moment by moment - grow less bright. There seems to be a strong degree of "resignation" within these words, which is why I believe your readers will sense sadness. Yet, there is also a sense of yin/yang here that is a bit comforting.
