How might one batter to death rogue Nation State
Much less Institutions Parties Power Groups
Motherland religion Peoples’ opiate
Villanelle: The Dilemma of the Non-Violent – 11
How might one batter to death rogue Nation State
Much less Institutions Parties Power Groups
Motherland religion Peoples’ opiate
Kings tyrants prophets may under-estimate
The will of the People to upset their hopes
How might one batter to death rogue Nation State
Around rulers sycophants proliferate
Brahmins Mullahs Rabbis Mahatheros Popes
Motherland religion Peoples’ opiate
Intrigue owe allegiance inordinate
Find forgiveness for evil deeds lethal troops
How might one batter to death rogue Nation State
Rulers shared power with sp’ritual Prelate
Don’t religions all jockey like power groups
Motherland religion Peoples’ opiate
When the individual’s battered by the State
Turn not to Justice rather see dashed your hopes
How might one batter to death rogue Nation State
Motherland religion Peoples’ opiate
'And so it continues without end. Unless we choose to end it without further war and inhuman destruction.'
There can be no "unless", Senor Don Ron. That's the rub or the fix. Without the positive/negative (Yin/Yang) conflictual ferment, everything'll just peter out: to borrow Eliot's words in another context, for example: "...not with a bang but a whimper..."
But, if you left it in the hands of those who claim their God/gods is the real McCoy, it will certainly end in a BAAaaaaannnnnnnnnnnggggg!!!
Well stated. It takes a strong intellect to reject the prevailing religious entity occupying the state we are born in.
When we look up at the sky as young beings, we find that we are insignificant and fear the great unknown out there. Religions come along with a solution for that fear. As you stated in your poem, the offer forgiveness for any kind of stupid act we may do out of ignorance or anger that we can't control. And, in exchange for devotion and continuing to spread the word as it has long been written, eternal life. Just exactly what that life is, varies but always includes those that we have lost and want back, selfish as we are.
And so it continues without end. Unless we choose to end it without further war and inhuman destruction.
