Good Lord! Senor Don Ron! You're over-doing Thyself in this vitriolic commentary. Hurra! You have rendered homage to India's Father of Independence, but, might I say, if only you had added the syllable after Gandhi's name thus: Gandhi-Ji/Gandhiji, Indians all over the world would love you for it. Why? Because it's the honorific address or reference of respect for a dearly-loved Soul in Hindu terms.In the circumstances, I think you should go without food,fun or drink for at least another two or three months...Secondly, Gandhiji not only went about affronting the British Raj "bare-chested" as you well put it, but - here is the lapse - nearly "bare-foot" as well. Just imagine slopping through all the accumulated filth in towns and villages without sewer-systems in his slippers and sandals.Thirdly, on the Brahmacharya (sexual abstinence) front, he did slip up a bit now and then. Finally, he committed troops (186,000 ?) to WWII efforts in Europe in exchange for the promise of Independence after the War.
This poem says a lot about our innate pleasure in supporting military aggression and calling it, defense. Aggressive countries like Russia, now committing blitzkrieg war against Ukraine finding the obsolete strategy is backfiring in their face. Back home, all of those old men with their chests heavy with medals from past campaigns. Where they conveniently and cowardly stayed back behind the front lines and directed youngsters into the gristmill of combat.
