Perhaps, Monseigneur, you should not try to conceive of each and every villanelle in the sequence as self-contained in meaning and argument. I notice you didn't comment on the previous villanelles; perhaps you had not followed the train of thought - in this rumination of the dilemma of violence as opposed to non-violence - in the development of an argument on a comparative basis extending from Thoreau, Gandhiji, Tolstoy, the Indian Independence Movement vis-ŕ-vis the Mexican (Zapatan) Revolution (following on the heels of the latter), juxtaposed with that of Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath (including his "Viva Zapata" film script), etc. That's asking too much of a commentator who roves diligently on adducing his "appreciation" of every piece on AD whether repetitive or merely re-digested...

A little difficult to follow. In nature, everything eats everything else. The result is great diversity and balance among all competition for scarce resources. Too bad we have upset that balance by making ourselves superior.
