" Beauty is in the eye of the beholder "

...................................................................

Little golden dandelion clinging to life

raised amongst the hedgerows

on sparse and shallow ground

some say you are a weed

and a misfit for their garden

I say you are a wonder

with your own unique display

you scrape a living way down below

and never give up the fight for life

your tap root reaches deep down below

where you'll always find precious water

you sparkle when the sun shines

and always give us such a treat

I am enamored by your beauty

bedazzled by your glow

your charms are surely magical

for one and all you show

such a splendour in array

you touch my very soul

and your courage is unmistakable

as you survive from day to day

I bless the Lord you came my way

and gladdened and lifted my heart

Splendid, Peter! I so agree...here in the States, dandelion is considered a weed indeed and killed with chemicals...something I abhor. I love your poem and am sending you cyber dandelion wine to celebrate your spirit.

A wonderful ode to a wonderful plant, Peter. To me, the dandelion is a powerful symbol of survival and of life. Thank you for this gift. Love and peace to you,

A marvelous ode to one of earth's far too many unappreciated life forms. I love gazing at a spring meadow chock full of these wondrous beauties. I've also been known to make a little dandelion wine!

Dear Peter, I'm so happy to read this glowing ode to the beautiful dandelion - while basking in their view, as they dapple the meadows beyond my window. In flower essence therapy, dandelion is used to ease muscular tension and pain. Our horses and their humans here... :0)... are grateful beneficiaries of its healing properties - and of so many more generous gifts of nature, not always obvious and sometimes misunderstood. Thank you for sharing this glorious view!

Peter,

The lowly dandelion gets no respect...until now, in your beautiful words. Well done!

This is a medicinal weed...steeped into a tea is nourishing and healthy. I recall picking the Dandelions and placing one under the chin of siblings and friends. If a yellow shadow showed up it meant the person loved butter. Dandelions are definitely part of folk culture and a great choice for you to write about.
Thanks Peter!
