Bella Bunny Rat flew away January 7...

Poem Artwork

You left the world with grace and ease
Lying in your penthouse suite
On top of the cage, never in the cage
Your life was such a treat

You melted us with such sweet charm
Your presence was a healing balm
Soothing our hearts with your bright love
So sad we had to part

But off you fly Bella Bunny Rat
To meet up with our eight other girls
Your sister Sprinkly Sparkles will be there too
We can imagine the mischief you’ll all get into

(The term for a group of rats is called ‘a mischief’)

R.I.P. is what most say, but is that all?
It's harder when you feel hurt from the fall.

A loved one who dies is a loss of life from this world, forever.
Matters not, if an elephant, a mouse, or friends with feathers...

All we can hope and pray is that the pain is short and light.
Just know, you did your best, you cared, you lived life so right!

Love and blessings to you, my dear friend,
Amen, Amen, and A...men

They lead such short lives. Just when you get to loving their antics, they're gone.

It is hard to lose a pet, no matter the specie. Rats can be affectionate, funny, and very entertaining. As an instructor for developmentally challenged adults, I helped care for our menagerie of bunnies, rats, and hamsters at the program. The critters brought much joy to the clients, and taught them about the similarities between humans and nonhuman species that seem to have human traits. Rats aren't as unintelligent as most would think; the wild rats that invade homes are pretty ingenious as to how to get into homes, they seldom leave traces of their presence other than chewing, and they avoid anything different that is introduced into their environment.

I think your precious pets are together, romping playfully over the Rainbow Bridge, where I have to believe all pets and creatures eventually go when their presence on earth is no longer felt.

A fine tribute, nicely done.
