As a child growing up in Connecticut, we would spend most of our afternoons in the summer at a nearby lake. I remember being petrified of them, which my cousin...a boy...took absolute delight in! Thanks for bringing back sweet memories.
This reminds me of my childhood. I had a dilemma. I did not like the up close look of dragonflies but I sure loved them in flight; them and their different colors. Nicely done, Ron. Love and peace to you. Regis
Never thought about that before! But you're right: their "all-seeing eye" can be very disconcerting if you think it's aimed at you!! But, have to confess, I'm just a sucker for the brighly coloured body and the shimmering gossamer wings... dodo that I am!! Better not tell me any of YOUR secrets, Ron... Wish he would come to NJ and eat more mosquito's, they being the NJ state bird and insect all at the same time...with all the standing water we have here of late from all the rain, dragon flies would be very busy and well fed this coming summer season...twas an interesting write, Ron and you're right, we do seem to find fear when we see these harmless little guys...Ed
Our family had a cabin by a lake in my childhood. This reminded me of how I could never get used to dragonflys, and how my brothers, had a good weapon to use against me, when they didn't want me around;-) I used to hate bugs of any kind. They do have a beauty when you lose the fear;-)Wonderful poem Ron!
