The only criticism I can register is the intrusion of so many indefinite articles ‘the’ (a particular pet hate of mine), I tend to class them as weeds in your poetic landscape of beauty.
Put it down to lack of education on my part. Or possibly being a farmers son.

The grass sounds purty, but you can have those plains, I don't want to live ANYWHERE near tornado alley...I guess I am just stuck in NJ...but after all these years here, no place is more home than in Joisey...e
Absolute visual beauty in this one, Ron. And the rhythm is perfect, almost as if I can hear the chanting and drumbeat of Native Americans. If I were still teaching, this is one I might have my students memorize and recite. Yes, I was one of those mean teachers who had his students memorize poetry on occasion, especially such beauties as Elizabeth Coatsworth's "Swift Things are Beautiful," and Robert Frost's, "A Time to Talk."
