My partner received this day lily as a gift about 10 years ago. She replanted it twice in the shade, but it only grew one leaf in a season. Last fall she planted it under a rose in the front yard in the sun.

Day Lily That Bloomed In Our Front Yard After 10 Years

Real Treat

We look to nature for a free real treat,

always providing something so sweet.

We look to nature for a surprise to be found,

never know what new will come around.

Like the morning sun in springtime,

warms the winter cold ground.

Like the sweet rain in midsummer,

that follows the thunder’s sound.

When the warm moist seed germinates,

and pierces the surface reaching for sun.

From this fragile beginning a plant grows,

a cornucopia of seeds when its life's run.

Songbirds return from their winter retreat.

Calling out to mates, with sweet tweet.

Time to make a nest and raise a family.

Time to have no rest until fledglings fly.

In the glade, a spotted faun appears,

its mother, attentive, close behind.

Grazing in the sunlight, a real delight,

whole world stops this moment to find.

Up in the clouds, the bald eagle soars,

lying flat on the grass, the mind wanders.

Poet and dreamer's thoughts float on,

from clouds to birds the mind meanders.

Beautiful. My brother passed twenty-eight years ago, and I still have his plant. I speak to it as I water it. It is precious to me. At night, it folds its spotted leaves and goes to sleep.

Nice poetic song. It reminds of when I planted a fig. Now it's just a rotten twig. I planted a rose, gae it fertilizer and she barely grows. But I bought an exotic flower and just left it in the pot. Six months later it the best looking flower in the lot. Go figure... LOL

The regrowth of springtime is indeed a magical time to sit calmly in a garden and in solemn contemplation, give quite thanks to the flowers that contribute so much to those who pay attention. I marvel at time-photography that shows the opening and closing of flowers in time lapse, just to furth imbue the comforting essence these marvels of nature can convey. Thank you for posting.

There's beauty to be found if we take the time to look for it.

There is nothing like a flower to pick up our spirits, a real treat indeed, especially after the patience required to wait for ten years.

Beautiful!

During these times nature offers reprieve, respite, and reminds us of resilience.

Thanks for reminding us of the good things in the world in this time of peril. We should all take time to focus on the bright side.
