All the world's hungry masses seeking to reach the lifestyles of the higher classes know not what they do. Progress is no longer our most important product. (Former General Electric slogan. Spokesperson: Ronald Reagan)

Wounded Earth

My skin is badly scarred,

my atmosphere is so thin,

my inhabitants are having a party,

but haven't included me in.

They've taken me for granted,

used me any which way they wish.

I'm one great big experiment,

in every discovery petri dish.

They are creating wonders,

leaving less food for forage.

My little creations are ignored,

peas in the greedy porridge.

They've taken low hanging fruit,

for riches, ignoring the cost.

They move forward, unknowing,

just what they have lost.

I'm overheating badly,

and losing all my ice.

But some can't even see it,

through ignorant, narrow eyes.

They may hurt me very badly,

but in the end, I will win.

Simply destroying themselves,

and then, I will start over again.

So apt, timely, true... ...and sad. Earthians (if we were humans we would be more "humane" towards the Earth and one another) seem intent upon the destruction of their home. I prefer to be an alien (at least, I can always hope). Good write, Ron. Love and peace to you along with my best wishes,

Regis. 🍁

The incarnate spirit is ever-so-apparent in this well versed offering of what it's like to NOT be a victim. Your creation of life's unknowns is very apparent in this work, even though you choose to take the positive attitude toward all the slings and arrows of your experience. Well done, Ron.

The earth's cries can be clearly heard by those not jingling coins, and the damage being done can be clearly seen by those not looking through money. Well expressed as seen through the earth's eyes.

If industrialists could come back with a vengeance, I'm sure they would.

Beautifully rendered and with simplicity, understated. No sense in crying out. Simple, humble words will amply do. The earth could speak just like this. Look how quickly it has revived during this pandemic with the closedown of human activity. Well conceived and written.

I think our earth is, indeed, saying just these things in just this way. Too bad more people aren't listening to it. You would think the the speed with which nature began making her comeback after all the lockdowns took place would get more attention, wouldn't you?
