Pilgrims -- The Inside Story
Many, many years ago
a Pilgrim band embarked;
They landed at the Plymouth Rock
and there, their ships they parked.
These pilgrims wore the oddest clothes --
their pants were known as knickers.
And as they walked through heavy brush,
their socks got full of stickers!
Their stiffened shirts were snowy white,
and lady pilgrims knew
to get them clean, they'd have to scrub
until their hands turned blue!
But Pilgrims tried to look their best,
because they had a hunch --
the Indian Chiefs might be impressed
and invite them over for lunch!
"Live an exemplary life among the natives
so that your actions will refute their prejudices.
Then they'll be won over to God's side
and be there to join in the celebration when He arrives."
First Peter, chapter 2, verse 12

So I always endear all poems of the occasion.
