                      Clear moonlight.............

                 The weather is warming,
                       sunshine abounds.
                      Birds are returning,
              picking food from the ground.

                    Nests they are making,
                   in drain pipes and trees.
                 Taking care of their eggs,
a wonderful site, sure to please.

         Squirrels, rabbits, making a showing,
calling each other, a squeal, a thump.
     Scampering, scavenging always searching,
one digs down, the other climbs up.

In the birds nest, clean safe and warm,
babies lay still they are yet unborn.
Squirrels up a tree, rabbit's underground,
             parents stay near appear forlorn.

                  Anticipating their bundles,
                       to arrive and be free.
                   They work day and night,
                    for their family with glee.

                      The time will be soon,
                         instincts are right.
                   Their babies will be born,
                  under the clear moonlight.

                   Remember the next time,
you go out for a stroll.
                  Be careful where you walk,
watch out for the rabbit hole.

                        Deep down inside,
                    you might cause fright.
                 To those newborn bunnies,
              born under the clear moonlight.

Beautiful. It reminds me of the time I lived next to a golf course where the rabbits proliferated. They grew in numbers until a fox or cayote zeroed in on their homes. That's nature, I guess.

Karen & Robert,

What a magnificent collaboration!

When we first moved here 2 years ago, I was still struggling greatly from my stroke. We were established on Easter Sunday...(it was warm though, LOL!) Besides, a friendly neighbor, the first thing to greet us, was a mother rabbit - and eight tiny babies in a huge hole in our yard! With the help of our eldest grandson, we lovingly took them out and laid them in a soft box, lined with grass...my husband mowed the lawn, which was hugely overgrown, and then we returned them...and soon the mother was back! We prayed for her to return, for we were fearful that the human scent might scare her off. It was a precious reminder of Jesus giving us New Life!

Your marvelous work here, captures it exceedingly well, also..and I thank you.

Blessings, Rhonda

What a beautiful write dear friend...spring is my favorite time of year! Love all the new additions that come with the season, new rabbits, new birds, kittens, puppies, goats, chicks, and all of this is complimented by the new flowers, blooms, and trees. Got me in the mood to work outside tomorrow, too bad it's only supposed to be in the thirties tomorrow...dogwood winter here, but it will pass by Monday or Tuesday, I just hope the cold don't kill the blooms and green trees that blomed out last week. Enjoyed!
Blessings,

Babies of whatever species just bring all our clucky feelings to the fore at this time of year, I find... Spring must be the natural maternal month! :)) Very evocative verses, Karen, that are warm with emotion and delightfully descriptive. Your empathy and consideration of the world around you is shown by your alert awareness. Wonderfully nurturing. TY Kate xx
