Writer's Cramp

Poem Artwork

I've come up with writer's block
tho I thought I was very bright.
When I tried to pen a line
I simply cannot write.

I rack my brain for something
a verse, an ode, a rhyme
but my page stays empty
it's a literary crime.

At times my words all spill out
and flow like flaxen honey
but they are stuck inside my head
and it isn't very funny.

The dictionary holds no clues
for me to fill this paper.
Ideas form, then go away
adrift on mindless vapor.

I frantically searched some more
with synomic Peter Roget
but came away more confused
Peter had nothing to say.

I thought my rhymey dictionary
could light a meager spark.
I fight to write; where's the light
I'm lost in the creative dark.

So, I think that I will stop for now
and turn out my overhead lamp.
I am literally all dried up
and I'm getting writer's cramp.

With deepest sympathy, of course. Thank goodness your muse didn't let you down on this one. Good stuff ! ! ! - Bill

Thank you for sharing your wit, Rusty. I appreciate the rhyme and rhythm. That, it seems to me, takes discipline. Love and peace to you,

Regis

This is wonderful, Rusty -- how many many times I've been there and done that! You've put it into words 'just right' and I'd say it was worth the writer's cramp!
Love,
CJ

I don't believe it...no, don't believe it. "Lost in creative dark." No. Methinks you are blessed by both Erato and Thalia...so never despair :o)

A funny and real depiction of the despair of writer's block. Welcome to AD, Rusty.
