They bloom joyously,
Infused with a delicate,
Delightful,
Fragrance, alongside
My front porch.
I call them ugly,
But, as with everything,
Ugly is in the eye
Of the beholder.
Mine are simply
Different,
Sometimes more appealing
Than other times, depending
Upon my mood
At the time.
But what I think
Doesn't matter,
For they don't care
What I have to say.
They burst forth
With great abandon
Each mid spring,
Their buoyant spirit
Uplifting me
When the world
Would weigh me down.
Thank God nature doesn't care what we think; otherwise it would be in great trouble. Whereas nature goes its merry way and we are the ones in trouble. So, think what you like, I love irises!
We had iris's in our flowerbeds, but 2 years ago I dug everything up and planted grass, because the beds were getting harder to maintain in my old age age. I do miss the flowers, but not the work. Now I just enjoy the flowers at other places.
