Have you ever wondered
Why things seem worse
After dark?
The loss of light
Illuminating the world,
Giving life
To all the demons
The day holds
At bay?
Yet
There is beauty
To be found there
As well.
I look up upon
The celestial night sky
And I see
The tiny lights of stars,
Unknown worlds,
And galaxies.
I breathe in
The fresh air while
All about me
I hear the music
Of myriad creatures
Unheard during the day:
Frogs croaking,
Crickets chirping,
Owls hooting,
The yipping of a coyote
Somewhere nearby,
All a symphony
Played by Nature’s
Orchestra.
Or maybe
The music isn’t limited
To the night.
Perhaps it’s always there
Unnoticed because the day
Holds so many distractions.
Perhaps it takes the night
To bring it all to light.
Sometimes when you strip a narrative of its superlatives and grandiosity, you arrive at a place where words and language take on a sense of purpose, and wonder, and gratitude. Some call it a symphony. By any other name. it is refreshing. A+
Yes, as you have so deftly written, the night is just another wonderful part of the human experience. When one stops fearing the dark and starts listening to it, observing the light it has, one gets in the rhythm of the night and understands its beauty.
