Powerful work, Karla. I remember all the controversy about The Wall as a memorial, but I continue to believe that it is the most poignant, potent memorial erected to the memory of our fallen soldiers. Thank you, poet.
This is one wall that should never be dismantled and should be a cornerstone to our remembrances. Excellent write that stirs a lump in my throat, Karla. Only those who have served can have any idea as to the change of life's perspectives that it must bring: but your natural gifts of compassion and empathy take you - and us - there as ever. For the time you served, I salute you, Karla. No one knows the flavor of freedom like a soldier, for they are touched by all that is required to keep it. How can we go through our days and not be humbled and sad for the lives given that we may live beneath the flag of liberty. I owe all that I have to those who spilled their blood that our country might endure. God bless them all. Wonderful tribute and just an excellent poem in every respect.
