Poetry is like a cat. When everything is going well, I purr with contentment. (And then there are those moments it spits and hisses in my face with razor-sharp claws of doubt.) It has finicky moods, this thing called poetry; is it friendly or something to avoid? (And then there are the times it thinks I am its litter box ... and I'm left to clean up the mess.) No wonder some people hate cats ... do those same people feel the same way about poetry?
Everyday is like that for me and thank heavens somertimes I'm able to write a poem that will not come back and bite me. Well done Karla, you hit the nail right on the head of that black cat.. Meowwww
Hey, Babe!! I'm back at de mo and JUST LOVIN THIS!!! Can so relate on both levels and know these feelings WELL - cats usually give me their rear views to consider and arch their backs at me if I crowd their space! Must be the dog in me (oops, nearly said the female version!) Yep, I felt like this particularly with my Surreal write - you know what the bits are and where they should perhaps go, but it just won't let you pick it up and stroke it, will it?! Poetry and cats - brilliant; yes, they are the same thing. Great simile. Thank you for missin me, Hon!! LOL Kate xx
This poem strikes my eyes, mind and ears; "Finicky" has an esoteric energy that prods imagination.
I THINK THAT THIS POEM WOULD BE RICHER without this end:
>>>>>> "do those same people feel the same way about poetry?" < < < <
This LINE as closing line KILLS the symbolistical magic of the composition. IT WILL PRODUCE A BETTER IMPACT IF IT ENDS AS,
>>> "No wonder some people hate cats..." < < < This is the closing line
that will make this little poem a GIANT!
I salute You, Poet!

Oftentimes if someone hates animals. They tend to not like much except the self.
Good point. But nope. I know of a cat hater who is a famous minister and loves poetry..
Perhaps it's time to "change the litter box" and write prose. Either way, poetry or prose can be hard on the nose! Interesting question, Karla. Freshen's the air!
The Wholly Book of Doo-Doo-Rot-on-Me is adult satirical humor featuring adult language and adult content, and the work is a parody of the Old Testament Book of Deuteronomy.
