... Don't do feathers or bikinis. ....

Poem Artwork

I do not have a good singing voice.
Either it comes out in a monotone or
in a waver that s l i d e s off into the
ditch, where it flops around like a
dying fish.  Power?  Control?  Not
on your life.  American Idol material?

Please.  Not that brave to be in front
of a camera, pretending.  And you
can forget about me dressing up in an
outrageous outfit.  Don't do feathers
or bikinis.  Why I'll lift the pen, instead:
it's waaaay easier on the judges' ears.

I'm a big fan of this show. I was lucky enough to catch the very first show of the first season. Taped that entire season. Been watching ever since. So far, I'm disappointed with the auditions. I'd heard they weren't planning to show so many of the bad auditions - to discourage those types from auditioning. I heard wrong. In one hour, they showed 3 good singers and the rest were jokes. What a waste of everyone's time! A cute tribute to the show.

Your poetry makes me laugh and smile...I guess I'm glad that you don't sing. If you sang, maybe you wouldn't write...

AND MY JOB WOULD BE TO PRE SELECT ALL THOSE OBVIOUS IDIOTS
THAT GO THERE TO MAKE FOOLS OF THEMSELVES AND THOSE BIGGER IDIOTS PRODUCERS, ALLOW THEM THERE, MY JOB WOULD BE TO YANK THEM OFF THE LINE, AND BEAT THEM WITH " A WET NOODLE".......LOL

I tell my husband... I can sing!... and he just smiles at me...:)

Oh well, at least I get to him perform for me nightly! His voice is golden, but he misses the age limit for Idol by 13 years! He's on his own...performing weekly here in Saint Augustine. Its not as easy at it looks, especially if your also playing a guitar! I'm taking lessons! HA!
Enjoyed your pen~
Love and Peace~

hah! -- your poetry sings -- your words move souls -- they are your cerations -- you are not the mouth peace that utters someone else's ideas -- few singers can make either of those claims -- writing poetry, easier? -- me thinks not -- as for singing ability -- I have, none -- do not feel alone -- peace, love and joy dear lady -- JMW

This is a cute fun poem, as is the picture. I'm afraid my voice sounds about like what you describe since I have the flu. I think all those folks on American Idol should win something--not because they can sing; but because they have the nerve to get up there and try.

Karla, this is an enjoyable poem to read that puts a smile on my face.I am not that good of a singer myself lol.I like the ending to your poem when said "I'll lift the pen instead:its waaay easier on the judges'ears. The pen is the voice to our hearts and it beats everytime we see a beautiful poem or a song that is written. It also beats when we can come up with something beautiful to be written.take care
