They say what you do on New Year's Day, you're going to do all year 'round.

Poem Artwork

Woke up early, but then went
back to bed, slept in until 10.
Guess that means I'm going
to be lazy all year.  Then went

out to eat.  Cabbage was on
the menu, but they were out
of black eyed peas --- what??
You kidding me??  That's a

m u s t  have on New Year's
Day.  Guess that means I'm
--- saved by the assistant
manager, who realized the

mistake.  So I'll have money
and luck all year.  Whew ---
close.  Sort of like how it
is every year.  Came home,

cleaned up a bit.  Didn't want
to start 2010 off with a dirty
house. Forgot to do laundry.
Whoops.   Knew I should've

stayed up when I got up ---
guess that means I'm going
to procrastinate all year ---
some things never change.

You readily describe the kind of day I always associate with 1 Jan, too, Karla. For me it highlights the fact that it is a totally strange and abnormal day... like a haitus, a vacuum, while the real stuff of life reorientates and synchronises its watches and diaries. And you're right... the truism rings very true that whatever the year, 1 Jan always remains the same sluggish and confusing 24 hours! xx

OH,OH Karla this isn't good. Both Fred and I spent the first day of the new year taking care of our sick four year old who was upchuking every 1/2 an hour and burning up, tell me what does that mean.
Hope your is filled with all great things.

Newfie hugs are on the way, Rose

At least you got your cabbage and black-eyed peas. We lived in Pittsburgh for a few years and went to Cracker Barrel (they usually just have pintos) but they had black-eyed peas for New Year's Day and when we ordered them they said we were the only people who had ordered the black-eyed peas. Tradition, people, tradition!

As always, love your sense of humor.

"Some things never change." Ain't it the truth! Not calling you lazy (I should talk! LOL), or a procrastinator (again, I should talk LOL), but if the shoe fits ... I know, I am going to get into deep doo doo for that one! LOL Still, all in all, a great write; well done, Karla! Love the piccy!

Happy New Knees to you! (And back, shoulders, neck ... LOL)

As always, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D (((HUGS)))
