Dedicated to the memory of my father, Moses. 09/14 1953-09/25/2008

Poem Artwork

I was hoping and wishing
that I'd spend one last Christmas with you
but you were gone too soon
taken away from me without consent
and I let you slip away breathless unto the other side
breathless, you went, I let, you go
And unless Santa is a magician too
my wish that you'd be here--physically-- will go unanswered
but when the snow flakes start to fall and you from above
sprinkle your white dust of comfort below
I'll be thinking of you, only of you and me
Watching and waiting with cookies and milk
Your gift will be the first every Christmas from now on
wraped in love and clothed in longing
Under the Christmas tree, my heart will be, Daddy.

The first holidays without our parents are always the hardest...
Cryssa
P.S. When our son passed away, a friend who had also lost a child told us that they bought an ornament each year to place on the tree, in memory... We took up this tradition and it is always an adventure to find a new and unique dove ornament to hang on our Christmas tree to remind us of Brenton...our little dove. Doing so, helps us feel that he is there with us all season long.

So sorry for your loss. The first year is hard and also the second too. It does get better slowly, but never the same again. Although they are with us in spirit sadness comes but we can make it gladder by memories of them beneath the Christmas tree and making memorable things again each year and taking the time to have some traditions of our loved ones accepted and put in use.

Know that your beloved daddy still lives on in you and he is never far away! I am feeling the same loss you are; God will get us through this holiday as long as we learn to trust in Him and lean on Him during this what is supposed to be a joyful time of year! Very beautiful tribute; and I love the piccy!

(((HUGS))), much love, continued prayers, and Merry CHRISTmas, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( X0X0X0X0X0

Bernice you write with such loving dignity in remembering your father and express such a hurt longing. Guess it is a rough Christmas for many who have lost family. Holding tightly to the warmth once shared...

Be always safe,
Karen

It is so hard to face the holidays without our parents, NO matter how old, how mature, how smart they won't be left behind again.

Beautiful, Bernice, I wrote a letter to Daddy yesterday ("1st Christmas Without Daddy"). You wish is mine - and your peace is mine, as well. Well done.

A few daughters will be having the same wish to Santa, and no, he's not a magician but he could bring peace to those aching hearts.
