Sleeping giant rests
In a forest of silvery white.
None could be warmer
Than he
With his fluffy comforter of
Snowy conifer trees.
New Year’s Eve
Had brought wine and song.
Hope and memories, too.
Most did celebrate till dawn.
But, the giant grew weary.
Was asleep ‘ere he fell.
Forest fairies found
His favorite comforter,
Gracefully, they slid it
Gently into place.
A sigh of contentment on his lips,
As he settles back to winter sleep.
