Precious Offerings

As Christmas Eve draws near, my thoughts drift away to our wonderful soldiers...putting themselves in harms way in the name of freedom! God bless them all!

It’s peaceful here…
Christmas tree sparkling,
Familiar melodies adding ambience
To the warm glow of the season!
Sweet scents filling the air…
The tree, the gingerbread house,
Those shortbread cookies I love!
Soon family will be dropping by,
Bringing tidings of joy and love.
And fairly bursting at the seams
The house will be filled once again
With the spirit of Christmas!
But for now, I sit here alone
My thoughts drifting away…
To a land rife with conflict!
Our soldiers are there…
In a place where they’re not welcome,
Sacrificing their own safety and comfort
Against all odds, bearing precious gifts
In the name of justice!
They bring these gifts far and wide
Defending them with their lives.
Beautiful offerings lovingly wrapped
In the delicate fabric of freedom.
These gifts, peace and hope
They offer to those oppressed.
May the gifts they bring
Be well received by everyone!
And on this blessed night
I pray for their safety
At Christmastime…and always,

Beautifully inspiring, though sad words, Anna, my friend. It has been ever so throughout the years of war from the time of my memory during the days of World War Two. Safe and warm here, as those we love and so admire lay their lives down so we may be safe and warm here.
