Love this season...so many wonderful memories to open like gifts...

Poem Artwork

Wrapped in warm Christmas memories of yesteryear
Each one of them like a precious knick-knack,
A little worn, faded a bit around the edges
But always worthy of a special place at Christmastime!
A family of nine testing the strength of our little house
That fairly bulged at the seams with happiness and love!
Fresh boughs in the wreath on the front door
Their invigorating scent a warm welcome
To family and friends that come to share good tidings.
The Christmas tree, our gift from the forest,
Far from asymmetrical but perfect!
Shiny lights and pretty ornaments, old as time!
Mom and Dad busy in the kitchen, friends dropping by…
Familiar Christmas songs; everyone singing along
With their own version of the lyrics!
How vividly I remember those Christmases!
And while those days are long gone
The wonderful memories are mine to keep!
I understand Christmastime can be nostalgic.
Feelings in shades of blue tugging at the heartstrings…
But I also realize to have those feelings is a blessing!
For are they not evidence that one has truly known
The joy of Christmas!

I have truly known the Joy of Christmas. It's not until we are older and the kids are away, that we relive the memories of this special time. May God bless you every day of your life.

I always liked the bubble lights on my grandma's tree. And grandpa always bought the giant oranges, a real treat in the midwest of the 1950's. Patrick

Let the poetry of the Christmas holidays begin! No one does it better than you, my friend. I read your heart in every line. Thank you for sharing your holiday seasons with us... and, "thanks for the memories." A lovely read; well done!

Though Jewish and the spiritual meaning of Christmas different for me than you. Our Christmas' were always family days with, first my two younger brothers looking forward to the day and sitting with "Mom" and "Dad" opening gifts, then a great french toast or pancake breakfast. Then with my four children and my parents and my brothers and their families the break feast would sometimes stretch into lunch... I So remember and cherish the Christmas' of my past... Thank you,Anna, for bringing it all forward again.
Your friend; Mark

You didn't waste anytime heralding in the joys and smells of Christmas, did you, Anna?

This is a nice piece, looking back and thinking of the present. I want to be the first, or near the first to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
