Fire In My Mind
By Kathy Lynn
.
The wolves circle around,
The fire in my mind.
Waiting for it to die to embers,
So that they can come in.
.
Their howling can be heard,
As they become more disturbed.
For they want my heart and soul.
But I am trying very hard,
To hang on and not let go.
.
I can feel their hot breath,
As they taunt me at night,
Eyes of yellow piercing,
Dancing with delight.
.
Whispers of ,"come with us,
Come with us and be free."
But in my heart and soul,
I know this is not how it would be.
.
I would be eternally chained,
Forever without reprieve.
There would be nothing to be gained.
So I toss and turn in my bed,
As the wolves howl overhead.
Regis
until they finally circled him and got their meal. Not a pretty sight!
I know the feeling of trying not to give in and you've captured that very well, Kathleen. In the company of wolves you have to keep your guard up!
