Poem Artwork

Her life is bleak,
she withers in the sun,
fading softly,
now so pale she shimmers,
When you look at her...
she blames the moon,
that lovely orb,
draws her from the shadows,
And into the lovely night...

walking in the darkness,
the only place she ever called home,
hiding in her trees,
Watching the others pass by...
she sees them smile and laugh
and wonders to know what it would be like
to be happy like them

They called her,
the Queen of Darkness,
and she smiled sadly,
wondering if they knew,
how wrong they were,
She was never a Queen,
she was a child,
called by the darkness of her birth,
the moon,
that damn moon,
gave her birth,
leaving her no choice,
but to walk in the night,
And shun the light...

that damn moon shines on her as she sleeps
feeding her more darkness every time
whispering lies that seep so slowly into her mind
until she believes yet another-
Lies!
all they are
but they are all she has ever known
"don't go into the light,
there is only evil there,
will burn your skin
like acid fire
and scorch your eyes
listen to me my child
the light is bad"

She listens with her mind,
but her heart craves reality,
beauty, truth and-
Love...
But the moon smiles knowingly,
wisely, and whispers a warning
"I have seen a thousand lovers,
walking in my light,
Listen to me child,
You don't belong in the light!"

so she screams alone with tears flowing,
As ruby crystals down her cheek
bowing her head in sorrow
hiding in the darkest corner she can find
the moon,
that damn forsaken moon
that she blames so torturously
and the moon,
just dances in the sky
Laughing and taking the blame so proudly...

She walks away in such sorrow,
knowing her dream will never be fulfilled,
She will be alone for all eternity,
And in her heart,
She blames the moon,
shining so brightly,
in the midnight sky,
for the emptiness of her life...

Yes, there sipower in the moon. I feel it and it gives me energy, nothing dark at all. Interesting idea. :)

I guess we've got to blame something Reatta, my wife always tells me to watch out when there's a full moon. Instead of watching out, I watch its beauty, its loveliness, defy the spell. l&p G

Retta, this is the first time I can remember ever having read of the moon in a "malignant" light before - thank you for making me think in a fresh way! She is normally soft and sinewy and the friend of lovers, so it has really impacted me to look at your observations from the other side. Well done and beautifully sketched in word and ideas. KB

Reindeer, this is epic darkness, beautifully described, artfully crafted and resonant! This write possesses such wonderful metaphors and is engagingly sorrowful! You display a fine and imaginative talent for myth-building in your occasional word-paintings of the dark fantastic! I have always enjoyed your more "gothic" side...!
