I love a spotless house with white floors bright and glistening like those of former floor wax commercials
I long for functional furniture shiny with steel and synthetics
I want no knickknacks for dust motes to hide among no dust thus dust bunnies get anorexia waste away and vanish
sometimes I think
my mind is overpopulated with dust bunnies and it would be nice to get rid of them but I am not in favour of hunting and besides how painful to have some hunter blasting away in my soul not to mention the animal rights groups who would surely come with their protests and placards
so I just daydream about an empty house and a carefree soul
I DON'T CARE HOW CLEAN WE TRY TO KEEP OUR 'HOUSE' THOSE...'DUST BUNNIES'...WILL ATTEMPT TO RESIDE. BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION...! TURN ON THE CELESTIAL LIGHT! LET IT SHINE THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE AND THOSE DUST BUNNIES, MIGHT COME BUT THEY WON'T STAY. BUT THEN, IF YOU PREFER TO ENTERTAIN THEM...JUST LEAVE 'THE LIGHT' OFF AND HAVE FUN. HA! HA! HA!...! GREAT WRITE, THANKS! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
I mske my house well lived in and the dust bunnies are there, not bothering me at all, since no one lives here but myself. It's natural and a natural setting, but your dust bunnies get taken care of very well, and I did see photos of your home which is very nice with a lovely deck and a lovely view.
I love how you turn from cleaning the house from the dust to cleaning the mind of things that clutter it, of unwanted things that always come back... Well written. Good use of metaphor. Thanks for sharing.
I like how cleaning house progresses to cleaning the mind in this unique piece. Great read~

Regis, I would love to have a house like you describe in this wonderful little poem. Alas, my old house is a veritable haven for desert-born dust bunnies, with nooks and crannies, and knock-knacks on shelves I can't reach (much less see, as I am rather short).
I am quite sure that while I sleep dust bunnies also dance in my head and build nests in the nooks and crannies of my brain...they also hide my car keys and shoes from time to time (what other explanation could there be?).
But, no need for rabbit hunting with a gun. I know of a better weapon. It's called canned air. Dust bunnies tremble in fear of it. One splooosh (or two) and they're gone. I do keep a few around on purpose, though. After all, if it weren't for dust bunnies, who would I blame when I lose my keys and my shoes?
Regis, I enjoyed this poem as I always enjoy reading your creations. Though I don't comment as often as I should, I do read here a lot. You are one of my favorites.
dust-bunny smiles to you!

You have put those dust bunnies to good use. Don't let them settle in your mind, jist let them blow around for awhile.
This gave me a smile. Great images. You would hate my house. I'd rather write than clean house. My philosophy is: when I can write a poem on the table without a pencil, it must be time to dust.
this is so cute,,I once thought a dust bunnie could not be a friend, as I get older, they pretty much hang out anywhere they want, they're certanily safe here,,and protected,,,lol, and dust bunnies of the mind,,yep,,I think we all have them,,whether we want to admit it or not,,,but, when it's time to clean house, there is always more to replace them,,,...thanks for the share

I love the dust bunnies!!! And the picture you posted! When I was little; very small; I thought the dust bunnies were cotten candy until I tried to eat them and found out very quickly that they were not good at all to eat!!! Silly dust bunnies. So even men have that perfect vision, too, of a perfect home with no clutter, no dust!!!
GREAT to know!!! Love from Meredith Especially liked the part where the animal rights group comes with the placards; I can just envision it now! Thanks so much, Reg!!!
What a fun way to start my day Regis, with smiles...at my house I just let the little critters have a couple of rooms to themselves, and we are all happy...smiles
love and peace, Carole
Where you peaking over my shoulder looking at all my adorable knickknacks just sitting there on top of shiny oak, surrounded by dust? Lol. What a way to start my day with such an upbeat poems. Excellent piece of humor.
Awwww. Where will the poor bunnies go if you kick them out? I love
the idea of a pristine house. . .and don't. Knicknacks & gewgaws all have histories. Came from loved ones and former patients and students. Kept an orange papier mache giraffe my daughter made"to hang your bracelets and stuff on" until it literally fell apart. About a foot high. . .makes me smile even now. Sorry. Meant to say I got a real kick out of your poem {'case it isn't obvious}. Plan to print it and squeeze it into this furred and cob-webbed archeological dig. DID scrub off the wax build-up on some floors recently. Had t'climb a ladder!! T h a n k s, Reg. Now go make your peace with the bunnies. 'Pea' <3

I, too, am a fan of a sparkling house, Regis, but I will freely admit that dusting is my least favorite chore. Here in the desert where the humidity is lower than low, by the time I finish dusting, I need to go back and start over again. Cute write!
Take care,
Sherry
That's why I am glad I am a slob Reg, I let them not only stay but think I encourage their procreation so it absolves me from having to use too much of that brain space for real thought.
Love it! Your humor is enlightning this morning. You can write like this anytime and I'll read. With you the Dust Bunnies have a voice and suddenly it's easier to allow them their freedom.
Susan
Well I love animals and cushions you can sink into and texture but I get your drift, Regis. I think that a Japanese style interior would suit your mood at the moment-clean and uncluttered. This helps to still the mind. If only one room or a space in the garden. Dry wit with a meloncholy touch. I like this, Regis...
