Is it too difficult to understand that we are defending the new Iraq, not fighting the old Iraq?
When we went into Iraq we were defending ourselves against a rogue nation we had defeated in the field after the US liberated Kuwait.
The terms of their surrender included verifiable elemination of weapons of mass destruction, and recognition of "no-fly" zones.
Thereafter they refused to allow WMD verification, and fired upon American planes attempting to enforce the no-fly zones. Thus, they broke the terms of surrender that ended that war.
In addition to that breach of international law, they also supported terrorists througout the middle east, notably paying the surviving families of suicide bobmbers.
When terrorists from Saudi Arabia, apparantly under the direction of Usama Bin Ladin, crashed into the Towers in New York, our President declared that we would fight terrorism wherever it was fostered or supported.
Afghanistan was dominated by a government that sheltered Bin Ladin, so America had to defeat them militarily in order to pursue their locally supported terrorists.
Iraq, under Sadam Husein, continued tacit support of terrorism and refusal to comply with United Nations resolutions that might prevent the US need to defend against possible escallation of hostilities.
The United Nations continued extending time to Sadam, and giving him the opportunity to transfer his WMD into Syria along with other truckloads of unidentified materials that were leaving Iraq. The fact that they have not been found yet does not indicate that they do not exist.
When our troops invaded and overthrew the old Iraqi government, that threat was removed. OUR MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED, and our President congratulated the troops for their victory.
Iraq is now our ally in the war against terrorism. Tney stand beside England in combat. French, German, Russian, and many American politicians believe they would benefit from our defeat.
Terrorists continuing their war to destoy Israel and The United States -- AND TO KILL ALL JEWS AND AMERICANS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD -- are attacking the newly estaplished government in Iraq.
This could be likened to Guadalcanal in World War Two. It is a turning point in our war that has been building for many years. Of course it could be likened to Corregedor. A battle in wiich we may have to withdraw in defeat but return to fight again in the pursuit of victory.
We emerged victorious at the end of World War Two following the first nuclear attack.
We emerged victorious at the end of World War Three
following the first economic attack.
Will we emerge victorious at the end of World War Four
following the first morality attack?
