Political Rhetoric Is Dangerous! 9/8/2004 4:52:44 PM
I've heard this song before --- ¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°°º¤ø,¸
POLITICAL RHETORIC IS DANGEROUS!
Won't it be nice when all the political propaganda
bitterness of the 2004 election dies down? of course
the molecules of emotion have already done their work
in our bodies and brains, and it may take a long time
for some of us to recover.
Words we are hearing and deeds we are seeing in the
news media are more powerful than the jingoism of past
political campaigns. It is that way since the previous
speeches, arguments and parades took place on the town
square, not in our homes!
When we realize that the racist rhetoric of our Civil War
in the 19th Century is perpetuated even now by terrorists
in white sheets and hoods -- you wonder whether we can
be more successful during the next 150 years in getting
over the notion that members of opposing political
parties are evil and practitoners of certain religions
are the cause of Americas social and economic problems.
That race/religion scapegoat idea was preached by Dr.
Goebles and Adolf Hitler in the Mid-20th Century.
The American political racists continue adding to the
hate-list. It now includes Blacks, Communists, Jews,
Republicans, and Christian Fundamentalists!
We know where this kind of talk led in Europe a half-
century ago. Irresponsible speech can destroy us.
At the dawning of cyber-civilization in the 21st Century
The Internet is available to anyone with a computer and
a telephone connection. We can easily find the facts,
truth, and lies on all sides of social/political issues.
Hopefully we can separate the propaganda words of Islamic
Terrorists from the exact same words shouted angrily
by many American politicians.
