Modern Christianity Isn't Very Christain 1/7/2008 6:30:56 AM
People today have too much religion and not enough Christianity. In the 4 Gospels Jesus "lambasted" the materal world, in the "Sermon On The Mt.", The Widow's Penny,and The Rich Man and Lazarus. These are powerfully articulated.
Yet, today some that claim to follow him are among the most staunch supporters of the great monopolies and canyons of wealth that comprise modern society. Many people also seem to believe that their religion will make them rich, and it does enpower those who promote it.
The Rev. Tim McHave is a Califorina fundamentalist preacher who helped Jerry Falwell establish the so called Moral Majority and reportedly signed a 44 million dollar contract with Dell publishing for 4 end of time novels [Reader's Digest Aug 2002].
Dell was a major publisher of comic books in the 40s and 50s.
