Sentiment For War Seems To Be Declining 2/25/2008 8:52:22 AM
Recent wars that Americans have fought have fewer deaths, which seem to suggest that we no longer accept that high numbers of dead in the past. William McKinsley was president of the United States from 1896- 1901. He once made the statement that war was the highest aspiration of man.
I do not believe that any president would make such a bold statement today.Everywhere except, perhaps the Middle East, tolerance for war seems to be declining.
More evidence of this is the decline of military academies across the country. Hopfully, we are learning that it is better to slove conflicts through peaceful means.
