Boots on the ground or blood in the sand? Another try at a limited war to control ISIS. We've all heard this story before. In Korea it was Truman's "Police Action" with 50,000 American troops killed...In Vietnam it was Kennedy's limited Green Beret expeditionary force, another 50,000 sacrificed...Afghanistan a limited war with thousands of our troops killed and maimed for no good end result...It was Bush's "Shock & Awe" against Iraq that accelerated religious conflict and got us to where we are today in that region.
Now, it's 700 troops sent in to Syria and Iraq as advisors with airstrikes as a major repelling force against the ISIS thrust of religious domination.
History tells us that there is no such thing as a limited warfare. Even if the airstrikes and coalition forces happen to turn back or delay ISIS, another Islam determined group will come forth to carry the banner of eliminating us Infidels as is preached in their directive of motivation... the Koran.
The president's decision to stay away from an all out war is understood and sympathized, but wouldn't it be better to allocate some of those billions of dollars it will take to support airstrikes and troop on the ground as advisors to instead protect against imminent danger here in the homeland from ISIS and other like threats to our security?
Perhaps some of those funds that would be allocated toward that limited war planned against ISIS could better be put to work on things we need for our country, such as infrastructure, education, health issues, immigration, etc.
Will there be more of our troop's boots on the ground in Syria or Iraq and more of their blood left there in the sand for no end result, as it was in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and Korea. Please, let's learn the lessons from our past history of making war and losing lives and treasure for no apparent gain.
