So Today I Was Thinking 1/11/2009 9:20:06 AM
This could get heated...I really am a nice person, promise. :) Alright, so here I am two days in a row being blessed to be able to write to this blog! Today, I have a very controversial topic on my mind. Before I begin, please let me state that I am not trying to offend anyone, just trying to point something out.
You see recently my daughter was made fun of because of her Christian faith at her sporting practice. Then to top it all off they made fun of her because she was offended. My initial response was what? Why? Who do they think they are?
I have since been really wondering about the practice of being politically correct only applies to certain people, groups or what have you. Why is that ok? I have many questions like this. Most of which I know will never be answered. We are all the same in this world with all the same feelings, thoughts, problems, financial opportunities…sorry but nobody ever told me that I can’t make as much money as a man. I have been told that I could not have a job because I am white. That is a very common practice and one day someone will sue for that.
The thing that I love most about writing is that I can express myself and put my feelings out there to see if there is anyone else who might believe what I do and I am willing to bet that in this particular instance there are many who feel this way. They are however, too afraid of backlash to say anything. Sometimes I feel that the right to free speech is a joke. People cannot say what they feel, think or even know to be true in most circumstances.
In a world where everyone seems to feel the pressure to be “politically correct” in their dealings with people as well as in what they say and what they wear, there is an area of life where people may feel that pressure in a different way; their relationships.
