Life Lessons For Little Ones 11/13/2009 11:49:49 AM
Sickness is not all that bad sometimes. I just got back from the doctor a little while ago and I will have surgery Tuesday. I am so lucky to be able to have my surgery before my surgeon goes out of the country the 25th of November. I ask him if he is expecting it to be something since I have had this before, and he said he didn't want to give me false hope, but I told him I was expecting it to be something and if it was'nt I would be thrilled. He said that I was a high risk anyway so I will be glad to get this lump out of me. I just hope they get it the first time. I will keep you updated on this adventure.
People think that cancer is the worst thing that they can have, but honestly it isn't. If it were not for having this I can say that I would not have met the wonderful people that I have met since being sick.
The first time I had to have 6 1/2 weeks of radiation. You have to go the same time every day except on the weekend. One of the men that had been going about two weeks before I started, was going to be done and I was so sad because I was not going to be able to say good-bye, because for some reason my time had to be changed that particular day. When I got there he was not there so I thought that I would not ever see him again.
I was sitting there waiting for them to call my name and all of a sudden he came around the corner to say good-bye to me. I asked him if he had stayed around just for me and he said that he wanted to wish me luck and he hoped that I would be okay. I almost cried I couldn't believe he stayed just for me. That was one treasured moment that I would have never experienced if it were not for this disease. I told him that I wished him all of the luck and hoped that he would be okay too. I have thought about that moment many times.
The many caring people who work in this field are very special people!!
I will be having Thanksgiving for our family on the 21st. Eighteen of our relatives will be coming over for lunch to celebrate. It has been another year gone by and with my brother being a fire fighterk, and our son being a police officer we are really blessed that everyone is safe and well in the family except my dad and I. You never know what may happen next, but people can get killed in freak accidents on the road and people who are sick can outlive people who are perfectly well. Always look on the brightside no matter what is wrong there is always somebody worse off then you. Till Later Lori.
