Well I learned alot yesterday. #1. Shaving your head is not like shaving your legs. I do not know how all of these guys do it. That did not turn out at all. #2. I have alot darker hair than I had originally thought. My hair has always been a wierd color. At the roots it is really dark and when I was young it was really light on the ends. One teacher when I was in fourt grade thought that I had a wig on. My eyebrows and eyelashes are really dark. #3. I have more gray im hair than I thought, because for years I have lightened my hair and you do not see it. They say if a person has chemo and looses their hair it will be darker and sometimes the opposite of what kind you had to begin with. If my hair gets darker I may have to stick with the wig. My sister-in-law is also my hairdresser. She says that if my hair comes in darker that will be a real shock if I end up with dark hair becase it has always been light.
#4. If it is really windy you might want to go with a hat that day, because it feels like your hair will take off.
Yesterday after I cut my hair all off the dog kept staring at me and tilting her head. She is observant, but Scout didn't notice anything different. You kind of figure you do not look too normal if the dog notices. After I put on the wig they both took naps so they didn't think I looked too bad. My son and husband both think that for a wig it looks nice. That was after Jules cut it. Before that I couldn't stop laughing. It was at least better then coconut hair!! I never thought about it before, but your scalp gets very sore when your hair falls out. I just thought that was probably painless, but it is not. You feel naked with a wig on because no matter how hot your body is your head feels like the wind just finds your ears. That takes a little getting used to.
Now I have to find out how to get an insurance paper filled out which I am sure will be painful enough. I'd rather have a bloodtest. Monday I go for my second treatment out of four and it has not been that bad so far. It is too bad we cannot go with a family plan. You would think if two members in a family had to go to get chemo at once you could get a discount.
