Speculation about the crash of Flight 370 is running wild. Okay, it's been a month since flight 370 disappeared without a transponder squawk or a radar blip. Speculations of how it vanished from the sky or how it crashed run all the way from alien abduction to pilot suicide.
The confusion comes from some mixed-up satellite and radar data. Some of the spin tweaking about the plane vanishing may come from the air line who wouldn't want the lithium battery cargo to be at fault or the 777 manufacturer (Boeing) who would shy away from any liability.
So what happened to flight 370? My somewhat educated guess...Fire and smoke in the cock pit and through-out the plane. At first the pilot in command (left seat) made a turn to the left to get the airplane on the ground safely. He dove the plane down to breathing air altitude and headed for a 13,000 foot runway he could approach over water as opposed to the dangerous terrain approach he would encounter at the one he took off from...The Co-pilot had a relatively low amount of time in a 777 so he may have fumbled in the emergency, shutting of all communication including the transponder...(Part of his check list in case of fire is to trip a bunch of circuit breakers.) Meanwhile all in the plane were overcome and made unconscious by smoke or lack of oxygen. The plane continued on the heading manual placed by the now unconscious pilot...It drifted from that heading to a southerly course because of prevailing winds and ended down somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
There's a precedent for my speculation here-in. Remember the Lear Jet incident with the golfer Payne Stewart on-board? When the pilots and passengers became unconscious because of lack of oxygen the plane flew on its own from Georgia to North Dakota before it ran out of fuel and crashed.
We may never know the real circumstances behind the disappearance of flight 370, because finding the "black box" is a daunting task. But I like my guess as opposed to some of the others kicking around.
