"And when I go rambling he comes along / Over my shoulder my friend in the sky"

Poem Artwork

The Man in the Moon

I wander alone at the midnight hour
And see the face of the man in the moon
Who while saying nothing sees everything

Since he says nothing I might as well sing
At least these words if you make up the tune
Because my heart feels like a blooming flower

It waxed with the moon now it opens bright
To taste the magic in the air tonight
Which affects the cycles affects the tides
As well as everyone and me besides

I study the face of the moon and see
That we are different in many ways
He has the gift of patience unlike me

But I agree with how he spends his days
And when I go rambling he comes along
Over my shoulder my friend in the sky

I think he likes it when I sing a song
About how it would be if I could fly
He surely thinks flying is no big thing
But he just smiles and shines on while I sing

I wander alone at the midnight hour
And see the face of the man in the moon
Who while saying nothing sees everything

Since he says nothing I might as well sing
At least these words if you make up the tune

When I was a kid I thought the moon would follow me - For where ever I went, however fast I ran, he was always behind me. hahaha I had forgotten how it was to be a child. Thanks for causing me to remember. Now we know there is no man in the moon. We whiled away many an hour wondering what he was like. 'lil Marguerite

This reads like a song my friend. Ah, the moon. How it inspires endlessly. Thank you for sharing this gift, Stevie. Love and peace to you,

stunning write...just last night my husband and I took a ride together. While we were riding what should appear...a beautiful full moon, silently just watching over us, everywhere we went. I took a picture of the moon, and when I zoomed in...it looked as though it almost had a face..a pleasant face. My thoughts drifted as we rode through the mountain trails that were so peaceful..they drifted to how God is always watching silently over us no matter where we go no matter how alone we feel...even us ramblers. Super write...almost felt like dejavu when I read it...

Great write and wonderful tribute to that man that we all too often take for granted....ahhhh but if the moon could talk and tell his tales what stories would we hear. Well done Steve.
