A boy gives his girlfriend a present of a family heirloom.
Accept please this token of mi great affection,
It aint a large ring or a small erection.
It aint nuffink valuable or owt like that,
an’ it aint a pet like a dog or a cat.
I can only afford what I have to give.
I need all mi money so as I can live.
But I’ve ‘ad what I give nearly all mi life,
To give to mi future trouble an’ strive.
It’s a family ‘eirloom, or so mi mam sez,
Passed down to ‘er from mi granddad Lez.
She kept it fer years, ‘til she passed it t’ me,
‘an it’s definitely not fer stirrin’ yer tea.
“Yer dad didn’t know ‘bout it, ‘cos if he did,
‘E would use it on me, so I kept it well 'id.”
That’s what she said an’ I’m sure that it’s true ,
that’s why I’m passin’ it on to you.
It goes round yer waist an’ between yer legs,
‘an it’s ‘inged wi’ a padlock an’ a couple o’ pegs.
But yer don’t ‘ave t’ wear it, just stow it away,
an’ keep it a secret or for another day.
