Dog Soup Saturday

No elderly people were harmed in the making of this poem

I made some fried chicken last Sunday

Leg quarters the main part of the meal

Heavily spiced it tasted so nice

My tongue had to file an appeal

But the point of this story is funny

As I carved up the chicken to fry

I set aside the backbones for dog soup

With a small meaty portion of thigh

When I fry chicken I coat it with egg whites

And save the yolks for my four legged friends

Into the soup went the meat, eggs and bones

With zero seasonings as the vet recommends

The dog soup is as bland as it could possibly be

Unless of course you’re a canine

Compared to the kibble they hardly would quibble

Their lunch was a five star gold mine

Today was the day they were going to be served

But someone else beat them to the punch

After waking up from her afternoon nap

My mother ate the dog soup for lunch

I caught her midstream with mild amusement

Munching away at the “savory” delight

I told her the dogs would be quite disappointed

But she said that it tasted alright

So look out Emeril Legasse

I may have started a trend

This specialty soup seems to have its own “bam”

Though the dogs are no longer her friend
