The Southern California Air Quality Management District recently decided to help us all breathe a little easier by proposing to fine drivers $1,000 (yes that's a kilobuck)for failing to maintain proper tire inflation on their automobiles. This would be enforced at various maintenance businesses such as Jiffy Lube. Alternately, jail time could be imposed. I'm thinking the AQMD seal needs to be replaced by a swastika.

The California dream Was once beyond compare Now hack politicians stoke The Golden State nightmare Employment’s in the dumpster Home values in the can Infrastructure crumbling State government with no plan The average state employee Makes more than the average Joe With double dipping pensions I want to tell them where to go But this latest lunacy takes the cake Igniting temper’s fires A thousand bucks or six months in jail For underinflated tires I can hardly wait to leave this state To the knot heads now in charge And take with me my tax base While their deficits enlarge It’s really quite a racket As the follies just compound Where else on planet earth does air Cost three hundred bucks a pound ? Oh Patrick my Patrick! Near the end of a 800 yards stretch with a top speed of 31mph (50km) they had a 75 yards of desolate ground with a 18mph (30km) radar trap, everybody tried to reduce their speed (no sudden braking please) which resulted on everybody crossing the line at an average of 22mph (37km) and a 500 dollar fine! If you can beat that nonsense...you are heartily welcome!

I hope California doesn't set the precedent for the rest of the country.

Get some of that hot air in your tires ha, your Governor might like the makeover of your symbol, I paid a two hundred dollar fine once, for braking down on the Freeway, that's in the sixties, now with inflation, yeah, I can see a thousand, but you're right, the intetion might be worthwhile, but that is using a sledgehammer...... Damn, great write Patrick!! I heard about this too and almost went through the roof. Expect more of it. As the tax base shrivels, we move into full-scale kleptocracy! I believe they're backing away from this because there has been an uproar. But you can rest assured, they'll be back.
