Pondering life's simple things

I awoke this morning content with the sun shining on my face and the lazy, lounging motion that only a Saturday morning can bring. I soon discovered that today is actually Friday. I was a half hour late to work and not exactly in the same mood.

Poem Artwork

 I just had an inclination

It was all downhill from there

I was taught that you should never cuss

But in court they make you swear

I thought I knew about the birds and bees

But a queen just flipped me off

I totally get “Do unto others”

But they don’t like the kinky stuff

If I love thy neighbor as thyself

Will they cart me off to jail?

If we never actually meet again

Can you still have happy trails?

If sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy

And moonshine in my belly makes me high

Do I have to choose between night or day

Or let my anatomy rule the sky?

If a cow can fly up over the moon

And a cat can play a fiddle

Why is that a Tiger can get

In trouble for a few diddle diddles?

You sure got the tiger by the tale. Your humor is a commodity we can't do without.

These questions arise from famous sayings and books from the past, connected to various teachings and ones of fame, John Denver, Roy Rogers, the Bible, fairy tales, and Judge Judy...a menagerie of Pondering life's simple things...witty and remarkably humorous...like the anecdotes and wit section in Reader's Digest...it takes a higher level of thinking indeed to compose such good poetry as this, Patrick...

Sage

Very clever. Very funny. How you're always able to talk so much nonsense that really makes so much sense is beyond me.

Like your poem. And yeah, some things seem to be contradictory in life.

Take some of those anti-Alzheimer's meds so you don't forget what day it is...and if they get you a buzz, let me know as I am looking for a new way to get high...;-) Ed

These are complex questions you ask, far too hard to muster good compitent thoughts...I have so simplified my life that a big decision requires an answer to the age old question; One can not be bothered with the ordinary, so dear boy, would you please pass the Grey Poupon?

Cheers,
Dan
